Deputy Men Sam An Holds Ceremony in Takeo of 84,000 Buddha Statues

Takeo: The 84,000 Buddha statues at the Mondulkiri Buddhist site in Trapeang Skar village, Tram Kak district were inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An with the presence of Buddhists figures on Sunday.

Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An said that such important Buddhist ceremony will contribute to the wider development of Buddhism in the Kingdom for the great cause of peace, stability, social harmony and sustainable socio-economic development, as well as to provide opportunities for Buddhists believers near and far Takeo to participate in this big festival.

She also added that the participation of Buddhists in the festival reflects the great unity in the whole Cambodian society. The statues it’s an opportunity to increase mutual respect, contribute to reducing and eliminating misfortunes and violence action in society and the pursuit of complete peace, along with physical and mental well-being, which makes the society more developed and peaceful.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Buddhist event has been only possible because the country is completely peaceful, which allows the people to have religious freedom and understand that the relationship between religion and people's lives cannot be inseparable. The people of Cambodia, on the other hand, consider Buddhism to be a part of the national identity enshrined in the Constitution of the Kingdom of Cambodia, which makes Buddhism the state religion.
